Children with Disabilities and International Down Syndrome Day
On this week’s episode of Just Love, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks about the play “All Our Children” and International Down Syndrome Day.
Stephen Unwin is a Theater and Opera Director, a Teacher and writer, and the author of the play “All Our Children,” a play about the often forgotten chapter of the Holocaust: the persecution, sterilization, and murder of hundreds of thousands of disabled people in Nazi Germany from 1939 to 1945. Stephen talks to Monsignor about the few courageous souls that spoke out against these atrocities, and what compelled him to write this play on this topic in the first place.
Jeanne Alter is the Executive Director of Kennedy Children’s Center, an affiliated agency of Catholic Charities o the Archdiocese of New York. During this week that we commemorated International Down Syndrome Day on Thursday, March 21st, Jeanne shares the work of Kennedy Children’s Center in providing high-quality education services to children with developmental delays, and how they assist these children and their families in meeting the unique challenges of raising children with special needs.
