The Legacy of Dorothy Day and Supporting Veterans

On this episode of JustLove, during the month of November, as we mark the birthday of Servant of God Dorothy Day on November 8, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan speaks with Dr. Kevin Ahern, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Manhattan University, Director of the university’s Dorothy Day Center, and Co-Chair of the Dorothy Day Guild. Dr. Ahern shares insights into Dorothy Day’s Cause for Canonization, the work of the Dorothy Day Guild, and the university’s efforts to carry forward her legacy through the Dorothy Day Center.

Also on this week’s program, ahead of Veterans Day on November 11, Monsignor Sullivan speaks with Ashley Kitchell, Executive Director of Liberty House, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire based in Manchester that provides sober transitional housing and basic needs assistance to veterans experiencing homelessness and other challenges. Ashley discusses Liberty House’s work supporting veterans on their paths toward independence, including how the organization has helped 423 veterans find meaningful employment, achieve financial independence, and secure stable housing over the past year.
