Welcoming the Lenten Season During Black History Month
On today’s episode of JustLove, we are joined by two esteemed Catholics whose work is highlighted during February. Beth Knobbe is the Senior Training Advisor at Catholic Relief Services. She will be sharing with us about CRS’ Annual Lenten Program for families and faith communities who want to put their faith into action during lent through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to help change the lives of those who live in poverty across the world. We are then joined by Lucas Swanepoel, J.D., the Senior Director for Government Relations at the Catholic Health Association of the United States, who discusses with us updated healthcare policies for maternal and pediatric health for low-income families passed by the previous Congress in December 2022, as a part of the year-end Appropriations Bill. He helps us understand the importance of the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act to help address a crisis in Black maternal and infant health.
