A Young Person’s Gambit: A Conversation about Youth Sporting Environments at Home and Student Activism in Ukraine

Spring evokes thoughts of new beginnings, youthfulness, and renewed energy. This week on JustLove, we explore two sides of this transition. We discuss Changing the Game Project, an organization dedicated to creating positive youth sporting environments, with CEO and Founder John O’Sullivan. After, we look at student activism in Ukraine and how it colors the emerging narrative of war, with Evgeny Afieneevsky who Directed Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom released in 2013.

We will be talking with John O’Sullivan about the impact that COVID has had on youth sports, and how to make youth sports a more positive, child-centered experience for all involved. He is the CEO and Founder of Changing the Game Project, an organization dedicated to assisting parents and coaches in creating positive sporting environments for youth.

Evgeny Afineevsky Directed Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom, which covers the 2013 student uprising in Ukraine that ousted a pro-Russian leader and transformed Ukraine into a truly democratic republic. We talk about the experiences he had and his thoughts about the throughline to today’s resistance to Russian invading forces.
