On the Ground in Maui with Catholic Charities
Maintaining our focus on the devastating wildfires of Hawaii, we are rejoined by Rob Van Tassell, the President and CEO of Catholic Charities Hawaii. To provide insight as a true local, he has brought along Miguel Ceballos, a resident of the town of Lahaina, who discusses with us the impact the fires have had on his family and those in similar situations as him. Following this check-in, we meet with Bill O’Keefe, the Executive Vice President for Mission and Mobilization of Catholic Relief Services, who is working heavily to address the suffering experienced by Nigerians. Niger is ranked last out of the 187 countries in the United Nations Human Development Report, and O’Keefe discusses with us the work of Catholic Relief Services to alleviate the suffering there.
