Ireland’s Migration Story & Cultivating Sustainability at LaSalle Academy

This weekend, ahead of Saint Patrick’s Day on Monday, March 17th, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan speaks with Professor Bryan Fanning, a Professor of Migration and Social Policy at University College Dublin and author of Migration and the Making of Ireland. They discuss how centuries of both emigration and immigration have shaped the history and people of Ireland. After a brief break, Monsignor Sullivan shifts the conversation to the changing seasons, as many listeners anticipate planting seeds for the summer. On JustLove, he welcomes two guests from LaSalle Academy, a Catholic all-boys high school in Lower Manhattan—President Candace Hammonds and Science Department Chair John Neering. They discuss LaSalle’s innovative “Green Team,” where students engage in year-round hydroponic planting and harvesting, fostering sustainability and hands-on learning in urban agriculture.
