Esmeralda Hoscoy is the Regional Director for Catholic Charities Community Services Regional Office in Yonkers, New York. Esmeralda talks to us about the work that she and her office do with Day Laborers, men and women who work in the informal economy whose means of support has been decimated by the social distancing strictures and industry closures that have been put in place to fight the spread of the COVID-19 infection. Esmeralda talks about what Catholic Charities has been doing to help these families survive and start to think and plan for their future.
Vanessa Figaro-Rock is the Chief Operating Officer for Programs at Good Counsel Homes, maternity residences for homeless women and their children across the New York metropolitan area that is an Affiliated Agency of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. Vanessa talks to us about the work of Good council Homes and how, despite the Coronavirus pandemic, it continues to welcome and provide for women and their children in need, albeit in new and different ways.
