Mayra Linares Garcia is the Delegate to the Democratic National Convention 2020. Last week, she served as a virtual delegate to the Democratic National Convention, as we are finishing up with the summer convention season this week marking the beginning of the 2020 Presidential Race in earnest. Mayra Linares-Garcia talks about what it was like to virtually participate in the Democratic National Convention this year, as well as sharing with us a bit about what’s in the Democratic Party’s platform that was passed at this year’s convention.
Jessica Nauiokas is the Founder and Head of the Mott Haven Academy Charter School in the Bronx, a public charter school that is open to the general public but prioritizes admissions to children whose families are involved in the child welfare system. During this time of year when many parents and children begin to prepare for a “return” to school after the summer break, Jessica talks about the programs that she and her staff run at Mott Haven Academy Charter School to help their student body achieve success, and how they are preparing to resume classes for the coming school year in light of COVID-19 precautions.
