Increase of Substance Abuse as Coping Methods during COVID-19 and the History of the United Nations

Dr. Michael Weddle, M.D., Ph.D. is the Medical Director for Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster located within the foothills of the Catskill Mountains just North of New York City. Dr. Weddle talks to us about National Recovery Month, and how Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster is assisting the local communities in dealing with a surge in substance abuse through services, support, and coping methods as some people are turning to drugs, alcohol and other substances to cope with the stress, anxiety, and isolation of the pandemic.

Dr. Stewart Patrick, Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow and Director at the Council on Foreign Relations. During this week that we commemorate the 75th Opening Session of the United Nations on September 15th, Dr. Patrick shares with us a bit about the history and importance of the United Nations, how the organization has changed over the years, and what the biggest challenges are that the international body faces today.
