Juneteenth and Father’s Day: a Conversation about Connection

Today on JustLove, we begin with a conversation with Professor Kevin Foster, Ph.D., of the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Foster shares with us his expertise on African Diaspora Studies and the particular history of the Juneteenth holiday, which first began in 1865. Then, Jeff and Jonaan, a “Big” and “Little” respectively from Bigs & Littles NYC Mentoring, join us to talk about the significance of Father’s Day. Their program provides mentors to children in need of reliable adult figures in their lives.

Professor Kevin Foster, Ph.D., is the Associate Chair of the African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Jeff and Jonaan are a “Big” and “Little” from Bigs & Littles NYC Mentoring. Check out their website where you can volunteer and donate. They are in search of male volunteers!
