“The Heart of Nuba” and the Importance of Sports

On this week’s JustLove episode, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks to the creator of “The Heart of Nuba” and a CYO coach on the importance of sports.

Ken Carlson, an independent filmmaker with Carlson Films, Incorporated, talks to Msgr Sullivan about directing and producing his new film: “The Heart of Nuba” which follows the work of Catholic Dr. Tom Catena – a personal friend of Ken Carlson – who serves the needs of the forgotten people of the war-torn Nuba Mountains of Sudan as the only surgeon for 200 miles. Tom Konchalski, a legendary basketball coach living in Forest Hills New York with a long history with CYO basketball and coaching 15 years at Ascension Parish in Elmhurts, has literally scouted thousands of high school players over the years as part of the work he did for his “High School Basketball Illustrated” Report. Tom talks sports and the values that participation in sports – especially CYO sports – can bring.
