New Congress and the Jewish Community and Tradition in Secular Society

On this week’s episode of Just Love, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks about the new Congress and discusses maintaining faith and religious tradition in the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish Community.

Dr. Elaine Kamarck, Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and the Founding Director of the Center for Effective Public Management at The Brookings Institution. Elaine speaks to Msgr. Kevin Sullivan about the just sworn in 116th United States Congress – the most diverse Congress ever seated – and what we can likely expect of this Congress over the coming two-year term.

Dr. David N. Myers, Ph.D. is the Sady and Ludwig Kahn Professor of Jewish History in the Department of History at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Myers shares with Monsignor some of the tensions inherent between maintaining faith and religious traditions in the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in both in the United States and in Israel, while also avoiding assimilation living in the larger secular society.
