JustLove’s Look at Ethical and Impactful Charitable Giving Ideas for Christmas 2019
On this week’s episode of Just Love, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks about two different nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in areas around the world.
Ben Bateman is the Head of Growth for GiveWell, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding and promoting charitable organizations working primarily in the developing world that save or improve people’s lives the most per dollar donated. During this period prior to Christmas when many are considering giving gifts to worthy charities, Ben talks to us about the work of GiveWell, how and why it was founded back in 2007, and the model that they use to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of charities in the developing.
James Porter is the Director of Communications for The END Fund, the only private philanthropic initiative dedicated to ending the five most common Neglected Tropical Diseases. As a follow up to the conversation with Ben Bateman of GiveWell, James will be sharing with us the life-saving work of The END Fund, one of the charities GiveWell recommends, and why it is so important, from a moral perspective and an economic perspective, to assist people in the developing world suffering from these Neglected Tropical Diseases to recover, and why many feel it may be possible – with enough help – to eradicate these diseases and the suffering they cause during our lifetimes.
