Earthquakes in Puerto Rico and Martin Luther King Day

On this week’s episode of Just Love, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan talks about the ongoing earthquakes in Puerto Rico and he also looks at racial and ethnic economic disparities on Martin Luther King Day.

Carmen Villafane is the Senior Vice President for Early Head Start & The Head Start Division in Puerto Rico of The New York Foundling. Carmen talks about some of the work of the Foundling’s Head Start Programs in Puerto Rico, which are located in 43 sites in 5 municipalities across the island, and the aftermath of the earthquakes.

Dr. Valerie Wilson, Ph.D. is the Director of the Program on Race, Ethnicity and the Economy for the Economic Policy Institute. During Martin Luther King Day, Dr. Wilson shares a bit about some of the research that she has conducted in the area of income, educational and employment gaps between various racial and ethnic groups in our society.
